Raising Girls

As most of you know, my family is all female….except me of course. Even our dog, Hershey is a girl.
So, I thought I’d put down in words some insight (both funny and serious) that I’ve learned about raising girls.
- There is nothing better than getting to be Prince Charming to my daughters.
- Girls love dolls, but they don’t like doll clothes. How else can you explain the fact that every doll in our house (and we have hundreds) is always naked.
- Daughters of every age desire affection from their fathers and if they don’t receive it, they will look for it from other boys/men outside of the home.
- Middle school girls can be very mean to each other.
- I know more about American Girl Dolls and Disney Princesses than any other man in the world.
- Having your daughter climb up on your lap and fall asleep is one of the coolest things you’ll ever experience.
- With a wife and three daughters, my life is filled with drama.
- Little girls don’t like to hear “be tough….shake it off….why are you crying?….come on, that didn’t hurt….and….can you hold it for a little while?
- What is it about band-aids? Why do they need a band-aid for EVERYTHING?
- You can never buy too much toilet paper when you have lots of women in the house.
- Daddy/Daughter date nights are AWESOME!
- The time I wish I had boys the most is when I see all the cool toys I could play with at Christmas time.
- A daughter never pretends that she doesn’t need her Daddy, but there is a time that she pretends she doesn’t need her Mommy.
- I wonder what I’m going to do with all the old baseball cards I saved since I was a kid?
- I do not look good in hair bows, earrings, jewelry, makeup, dresses, tiaras, ribbons and wigs.
- As much as they say they like to wrestle, it will always end with one of them crying.
- They think that I can build, fix, lift, move and destroy anything.
- Even though my wife doesn’t think so, I have learned a lot about dealing with female emotions. (but I still will never completely understand it)
- I actually enjoy watching “chick flicks” with my wife. (anyone who wants to make fun of me had better be bigger and stronger)
- I know that I am going to cry like a baby when each of them gets married.
- Even though I’m not a girl, God has always given me wisdom and insight beyond my own understanding when it comes to raising girls.
- Girls can burp just as good as guys…they just don’t appreciate their talent as much.
- Is there anything better than the love and bond between a father and daughter? I don’t think so.
