Find the Best Christian School

Bible colleges are institutions of higher education that specialize in biblical and Christian studies. Educational program is bible based and differs from the research universities. The Bible says “faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” So the study and the understanding of the Bible are critical in the life of a Christian and crucial for a person called by God into His ministry. Traditional Bible Colleges and Seminaries are expensive in both time and money. Bible colleges generally forbid the study of philosophy, unlike seminaries and religious colleges. Bible colleges are also unlike seminaries but similar to religious colleges in those Bible colleges are primarily undergraduate institutions.

Graduating from high school is the moment of life. You need to decide on the path that you will take the place of after your high school life. There are some who prefer to get a job right away instead of pursuing their respective college dreams while others will join the military as their service to the American people. However, the most essential thing you need to remember is to do follow the path where God is leading you.

College is a choice that requires some careful planning and is something that should be thought about as early as in high school. The earlier you prepare and narrow down your choices, the greater the chance you’ll find a good College. There are several steps that you can take before choose a christian school haverhill. These are as follows:

1) Some Christian colleges have course programs that are very similar to secular colleges, while others have concentrated options in Bible studies. Many can give you flexibility or a range of options between both. While it definitely common to not know what you want to do as far as your career when you’re in your teens, knowing what you want to study will narrow down your list of choices.

2) Of course, the tuition cost of a christian academy essex county is probably going to be a factor. What would be good to look into is that many of the colleges offer grants and scholarships to offset the costs of tuition. There may be a college that will give your teen a full scholarship or grant, depending on his grades and need

3) Have you done some background research on the Christian College to make sure it’s got a good track record? A simple Google search will help in this process.

4) There’s no circumstance going to a covenant christian academy that specializes in worship leading if you feel called to community work.

5) Do you have peace about the Christian College you are looking at attending? Phil 4:6-7 talks about a peace that comes upon you that goes past your understanding. The peace that you feel on the inside. If you can learn to live according to this God given inner peace, then you will know that it’s a God thing!

Attending a Christian college will not lead to a religious appointment as a priest or a soldier of God, getting yourself enrolled in college where the administrators, staff, faculty, and students are devoted Christians is indeed an excellent choice. Christian collages care not only for your education, but also to your physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. In addition, Researches made indicate that students who attend Christian colleges are most likely to affirm their Christian faith and strong belief in God.

I’m going straight to you know where

We suffered through the school Christmas pageant last week; happily it wasn’t as painful as I expected it to be. There was definitely no Santa – far too pagan – but there were some familiar Christmas carols coupled with the seriously uncomfortable older kids playing Mary and Joseph with their plastic baby Jesus. C dutifully rehearsed his two lines (he was one of many narrators) and was all ready to speak them slowly into the microphone. “With sheep, cattle, and a manger,” he read, “baby Jesus arrived on a very special night.”

It was all very sweet and good. But I miss the days when school plays were more entertaining – when some kid knocked over the set, sat down and cried, or stole the show. C’s kindergarten play was priceless. C was a pumpkin in a garden full of vegetables. He hated the hat he had to wear (sensory issues), and try as she might, his teacher could not get him to keep it on. He spent the entire play tipping forward, letting his hat fall, and then picking it up, putting it on, and starting all over again. It was hilarious. At the end of the play, C got stuck in front of the curtain and laughed with a joy and abandon that will forever make that video one of my favorite treasures.

When I listened to C rehearse his lines for this year’s play and discovered his mistake, I admit to not working too hard to correct it. I probably should have; the mistake was irreverent in its tone, but the innocence of the misspeak was too cute to worry over. We let it go. To draw attention to it probably would have given C a self-consciousness he rarely exhibits, and we didn’t want to stifle any of his enthusiasm. So we held our breath when C proudly got up to the microphone and said, “With sheep, cattle, and a MANAGER, baby Jesus arrived on a very special night.”

Honestly? I don’t think anyone really noticed. Everyone was so focused on watching their own kid I don’t think people really listened to everyone else’s. But Husband and I chuckled and reveled in the return to the joy that should be a school play. Complete with sheep, cattle, baby Jesus, and his own special manager.

Chapel Message: Unfaithful - 1 Samuel 2.30

Eli epitomizes unfaithfulness to God and thereby really despised the Lord instead of honoring Him.  This is evidenced in dramatic fashion when we look at his lack of self-discipline and his inability to restrain his children.  This sermon confronts the problem of neglecting one’s salvation as a teenager and despising God when we act as though His Word will not come to pass as He has revealed it.

Dear Parents and Students,

Thanksgiving break is here! On behalf of the Faculty and Staff of Cornerstone Christian Schools, we wish you and your family a Happy Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving Day is a time to reflect and be thankful for all the gifts that God has given to us. Let us not only be thankful one day a year on Thanksgiving, but celebrate the greatness of our God with thanks to Him EVERYDAY!

This Thanksgiving, as you gather together with your family and friends for your Thanksgiving meal, as you laugh and play, please remember to also pray together to reflect on the many blessings God has bestowed upon you and your family. Pray for those that are less fortunate, and those that are serving in the armed forces away from their family.

LETTERS, NUMBERS, LEVELS

April 4, 2012 by Christian Bloggers

When I look at my report card from Grade 4, (no, it’s not in the Museum of Ancient
History,) I see that we used to get reports four times a year, and they showed number
grades out of 50 or 100 for most subjects, but letter grades, A – D, for Art, Music, and
Progress (whatever that was). There was a box about 2 cm by 12 cm for “Teacher’s
Recommendations,” so there wasn’t much room for comments and I got three words,
which shall remain a secret. Pretty simple.

The province of Ontario has recently changed their reporting system to one progress
report, with no grades, at this time of year, and two report cards with grades, one in
March, one in June. The grading system has changed from when you went to school,
too. A number of years ago, the government introduced levels which related to
standards and/or expectations, and replaced marks. With respect to the provincial
standard, level 1 means falling below; level 2 means approaching, level 3 means
meeting, and level 4 means surpassing. These levels were tied to government -
supplied samples, and rubrics, and were supposed to operate dimension by dimension
within an assignment or test, and were not supposed to be translated into an overall
percentage or letter grade. Hello reality.

Parents needed to see a comprehensive percent or letter grade, so the government tied the four levels back into four letter grades “A” through “D” for grades 1 through 6. Plus ça change, plus c’est la même
chose! except they added “R” for “Remediation required” and “I” for “Insufficient evidence“ In grades 7 through 12, they used percentages 50 to 59, 60 to 69, 70 to 79, and 80 to 100, plus the “R” and “I.“

At GCCS, in the primary division, we use a 3-level grading system of “1”, “2” or “3.”
The average grade would be a “2.” It is almost as though every student starts with a
“2,” and then there must be an obvious exception that would bring the grade down to a
“1” or up to a “3.”

In grades 4 through 8, for the evaluation of a lot of student written or creative
assignments, GCCS uses rubrics with 4 levels, like the government, indicating similar
comparisons between a student’s performance and the standard or expectation. We
use letter grades for most grades and subjects, even in grade 7 and 8. Percentages
give an impression of certainty that doesn’t really exist when grading student work.
There is an issue, however, in that none of us feel comfortable with trying to translate
rubrics into grades, or with such a wide range (80 to 100) for level 4, or “A” grade, but
when our students’ report cards go to high school, it is more helpful for the high school
office to see categories with which they are familiar, even if not exactly the same.
One disturbing trend over the years has been that many students and parents act as
though the child has failed if he/she only gets level 3 or a “B” grade. Level 3 or a “B”
grade means that all expectations are being met. Level 3 or a “B” grade makes a
positive statement about that child’s knowledge and skills. The descriptor that the
government attaches to a level 3 or “B” grade is “the student has demonstrated the
required knowledge and skills with considerable effectiveness.” That is pretty good.

Traditionally, the average letter grade is a “C.” If your child gets a “C,” that indicates that he or she is attaining the same as most students in the province. At our school, given the parental support, positive atmosphere, and close attention from the teachers, we would expect more than a “C,” as the class average, but for the child that struggles in school, a “C” might indicate they he or she worked hard, and should be commended. To treat a “B” as a failure, is to beg the school to inflate its grades so that it is easier to get an “A;” however, then the whole system becomes meaningless, and the child gets deceived into thinking he or she is gifted in a certain area when that is not true.

The goal is to assess and evaluate in ways that provide an accurate reflection of the development of the student’s knowledge, skills and attitudes, and to communicate that clearly to the child and parent(s).

Total Depravity: The Gross Old Teacher / Masturbator Edition

Words fail-

A teacher at a suburban Christian school has been charged with a felony, after he was fired for allegedly masturbating behind a podium while teaching class.

Aggghhhhhhhhhhhh……….

As CBS 2′s Dana Kozlov reports, Schaumburg police said he might have been doing it for the past 10 years or more.

Wait, what???????????  10 years?  How’s that possible????????

And in court Wednesday, a Cook County assistant state’s attorney told the judge that prosecutors have a handwritten note from LaDuke, in which he admits to fantasizing about students.  Paul LaDuke, 75, has been charged with sexual exploitation of a child. LaDuke has been a math teacher at the school for 26 years, and is also an ordained minister.

Um, I don’t believe I’d touch any note touched by the vile old man’s hand.  And he’s ordained?  Aggghhhhhh……….

Investigators determined that, while seated at a podium in class on Friday, LaDuke unzipped and lowered his pants and masturbated while students were present in the classroom.  “Through the course of our investigation, our detectives have come to believe that this has happened several times per year for 10 years or more, possibly,” Nebel said.

Aggghhhhh……..

I give up.  [Via Bob Cargill on FB.  Bob clearly hates me and wishes I would die of cranial implosion.]

Spiritual Emphasis Week

April 3, 2012 by Christian Bloggers

Last week at CCA, we had an amazing time. It was spiritual emphasis week. Thursday, Friday and Sunday everyone had the chance to spend time with God on their own in the Chapel.

We had the worship team sing a couple songs while others were in prayer. Some students gave testimonies. On Sunday we had about seventeen baptisms. Mr Botsford and some other deans baptized students. They were asked if they had dedicated there whole life to follow Jesus, and they all said yes, which is awesome. Only God can do such things.
