Today’s prayer is:

“Pray that your husband will be humble and quick to agree with God about his sin. Pray that His heart will be tender toward the voice of the Lord. (Psalm 51:2-4; Micah 6:8)”

We are currently experiencing some troubles, with our house and finances. But I know the Lord has a plan, and my prayer today was not just for my husband, but for me, that my heart my be tender to the voice of the Lord. I know He will carry us through. Even though right now it is tough.

31 Days of praying for your Husband Day 2

This morning’s prayer was this: Pray that your husband’s relationship with God and His Word will bear fruit in his life. Pray that he will be a man of wisdom and understanding, fearing the Lord. (Proverbs 3:7 and 9:10; Psalm 112:1)

This verse is the one that stuck by me: “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.” Proverbs 9:10. This is such true and powerful verse. Its a vital thing for the leader of the home to fear the Lord and grow in His understanding. How else is he to lead his family? Daily bible reading and prayer is imperative to this growth, and we need to pray for our husband’s that they turn to Him who is the Head of the Universe. The Creator knows best for his creation. I am praying that my husband’s faith and understanding will grow so that he will continue to become a man after God’s own heart.

31 Days of Praying for your Husband

I have been wanting to do this for ages, since I found this challenge on the Revive our Hearts website. I was challenged by Katy Lin, who has been doing it on her blog this week, so I have decided that I think now is a good time to start. I think my man could do with some prayers for him, and I believe prayer strengthens marriages, and who doesn’t need that )

Day 1 was to pray for your husband for spiritual growth and that he may consider his accountability before the Lord. I had to pray that he will guard his heart by developing spiritual disciplines such as bible reading and study, prayer, meditation and scripture memorisation. The verse that caught my eye was Proverbs 4:23… “Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of your heart.”

This verse has challenged me to remember to keep my heart and mind centred on the Lord. I hope that this prayer challenge will grow my prayer life and improve my marriage, and I hope my husband will feel the effects of my prayer for him as a blessing from our Lord.

Let me know if you joining in this challenge, post a link to your page, so we can encourage each other )

My friend Chris posted this entry on his blog today… Isn’t it encouraging to know that we as Christians are the ones who keep each other’s flames alive (obviously with the strength of the Lord). We have to encourage each other to grow in faith!

Let me know what you think are practical ways in which we as women can encourage each other in the faith!!

Good Bye for Now

Hello bloggers. After a little over 2 years I am putting up the pen, at least for now. I have truly enjoyed this blogging journey and hope that many couples have been inspired to stay together as a result of it. My life is moving in another good direction and rather than to neglect the blog I am closing out. Perhaps when things get a little more settled again, I’ll be back typing away. So thanks for being a part of my cyber family.

Do You Love?

“If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

 Love never fails.”

Beginnings of a new chapter in life

Hi all,

I’ve decided to start a blog on my personal struggles of taking on the new role of becoming a wife. I have been married nearly 6 weeks, 5 of which my husband was out of state. I believe that many women struggle with this life change and so I will document my experiences in hopes to help others and eventually to develop a support system for us Christian women who sometimes are unsure of who to go to for advice. I encourage anyone to comment so that this blog can  be of help to many women of various backgrounds.

A little about myself:

I am a relatively new Christian (6 years this November) and have married a man who has grown up in the Christian faith. We have known each other for nearly 6 years and are newly married. We met in college and have always enjoyed cooking, grocery shopping, and studying together. My husband is in his last year of a PharmD program and is hoping to specialize for at least another year after he graduates in May.

We are drastically different people, and yet we made fabulous laboratory partners back in the day =) Our personalities and life goals are on opposite sides of the spectrum as well. I am a very emotional woman who tends to react instead of thinking things through, and he is a critical, non-emotional man who is great at planning things and getting them done.

Neither of us is very good at reading each other and communication is our biggest issue, however, I am certain that with enough effort from the both of us will eventually conquer this big gap between us.

I am currently going through Debi Pearl’s book Created to be his Help Meet and have only read the first 5 chapters so far. The biggest revelation to me is the fact that although my husband may not acting in a way that is deserving of my love; that I should love him nonetheless just like how none of us deserve God’s love, yet He loves us completely and unconditionally.

Sometimes harsh words are spoken and I am offended at what my husband has said, but I must not strike back and be unloving. I know that overall my husband is a wonderful man and although he can say many things, I too am guilty of being harsh to him as well.

I will continue to pray that I can become a better listener and not talk back to my husband every time he opens his mouth.

Have any of you ladies had a similar experience?

Gravatar Widget

gravatar widget display

Say goodbye to messing around with HTML in a Text widget just to get an “About Me” in your sidebar. With the new Gravatar widget it only takes a few seconds to achieve this and stamp your blog as your own!

If you’re not familiar with a Gravatar it’s a graphical representation used to identify yourself, an avatar, in WordPress blogs and other sites.  It’s already built in to your WordPress.com account and can be found on your profile page.

This Gravatar widget allows you to quickly and simply add a Gravatar onto your blog.  You can select the Gravatar image, size, and even add a description about yourself or your blog. If you have multiple authors you can add several widgets – there’s no limit.

Setup is easy – go to Appearance->Widgets in your dashboard, drag the Gravatar widget from Available Widgets into the desired sidebar, and choose your settings.

gravatar widget config

You can choose the Gravatar of an existing blog author from the dropdown menu, or enter a custom email address if necessary.

You can choose one of four sizes for the Gravatar image itself, all of which fit easily into the sidebars of WordPress.com widget-enabled themes.

You can align the image to the left, right, or center, deciding how the text flows around the Gravatar.

Choose the URL you want the image to link to, if you want it to link to an “About Me” page or some other place, or leave this field blank if you don’t want the image to link anywhere.

Finally, enter the text you want to display below the image.  Include HTML too, if you want. Click Save and you’re finished!

And if you feel like it’s time for a new Gravatar remember that you can always modify your Gravatar from your profile page by uploading a new image or even using your webcam.

So what are you waiting for?

Step-by-step instructions for the Gravatar widget can be found on the Gravatar widget support page.

When is it too much? What will it take to wake us?

Check this link first, then read my reaction below.

This is my question: When is it too much? When will what is being taught in public schools be too much for us as Christians to send our kids into and be able to keep clear consciences?

- Teaching that God does not exist? (oh, wait, they already do this…)

- A severe lack of discipline?

- Homosexual agenda taught in the classroom?

- Rampant sexual immorality and drug use?

- What if they try to force you to send your kids?

After all, public education is just a cultural norm. Yes, it is a privilege in the sense that it is free and anyone has access to it, but it is not a biblical mandate. And just because something is free and our entire culture supports it, does not make it the best choice or even right.

If we have the ability to educate our children in a far more God-honoring manner, shouldn’t we?

Who’s responsibility is it going to be in the end? Parents or Government? Are you setting up yourself and your kids to hit the judgement day in the best way possible?

How much light do kids in grade school (k-8) really bring into a school? Who’s winning the influence battle?

How about high-school? Are we seeing revivals? Are teachers being converted through the radical witness of the Christian students? Not to doubt God, but will that really happen in a secularized institution? Are we missing one of God’s other commands such as “training up children in the way they should go” for an over emphasis on evangelism?

Oh, yes I am biased. I never spent a day enrolled in public education. But I am not going to defend homeschooling based on “this is the way I grew up and all I know so I am going to die on the hill for it even if it is wrong!” lol – and I hope that all of you who have “never spent a day outside of the public system” will do the same.

I think its time we faced it. Just like how in the past we have crashed against abortion, homosexuality, the slave trade, and divorce – and stuck out like sore thumbs in the process – we will end up crashing against the cultural norm of public education.
